DescriptionAs if we needed any more proof of just how horrible 2020 is turning out to be.
I became a life long James Bond fan because of Connery. But he certainly wasn't a one trick pony. He gave so many powerful performances, especially later in his life when actors of that age are relegated to playing grandpa roles (think Robert DeNiro). I think most people would agree that he actually became a far better and stronger actor in the latter part of his career. His performances in films like The Rock, Hunt for Red October and Finding Forrester (a personal favorite) were brilliant. And of course his Oscar winning (and career defining) performance in The Untouchables is nothing short of unforgettable. It breaks my heart to know that he's gone. But what an amazing legacy he leaves behind. Certainly some of which I'll will be watching tonight to honor and remember him. So rest in peace Sir Thomas Sean Connery. The world was a better, and brighter place while you were in it. "Here endeth the lesson." Social/Sharing |

Not a big Bond fan as many. Too macho, too much a product of its time (before mine). But it's undisputable that by being the first one to play him and by pure charisma, he truly incarnated the character above everyone else.
I have a personal fondness for Outland, The Name of the Rose and Finding Forrester which was a fantastic film highlighted by his perfect performance. And of course for being Indy’s father 😉
Rest in peace, sir, and thank you.

Always loved Outland and could never find it on home video. Finally got a copy on blu-ray earlier this year and have watched it repeatedly since then. I've had The Name of the Rose on DVD for at least 20 years and have lost count of how many times I've watched it. Entrapment and First Knight are also great popcorn movies. I mean, who could be a better King Arthur than Connery? By the way, loved the cameo at the end of Kevin Costner's Robin Hood.

My wife and I are reeling from the loss of this amazing, iconic actor. My favorite movie with Sean is The Rock. He will be missed.

Great choice! I was so happy for the success of The Rock because it turned out to be his only "blockbuster" type hit. He turned down roles in The Matrix and LOTR movies.
