Description

I'm not positive, but I think this Atom/Flash team-up might be Toth's only superhero work in the '60s (apart from that uncharacteristic job over Kirby layouts on X-men 12). Getting a page from it has been a collecting goal of mine for a long time, and this one delights me with its other-dimensional freeway vistas. Toth's radical simplicity, anticipating artists like Mazzucchelli and Cooke, feels several decades ahead of Bob Haney's DC standard "science-y" scripting.

Toth was a pioneer of simplicity and of framing action with blacks. Great page, Aaron!

Such a beautiful page. I had to think long and hard before deciding eventually not to go for this one (reason being I have a lot of Toth's work already). Great pick-up!
