DescriptionIt’s a quest – isn’t it always? But this time, it’s a ploy of Odin’s – to send his son (plus the Warriors Three) on a futile quest to find the legendary “Twilight Well at the Edge of the World”, keeping them safe while he takes on Mangog in a battle he seems certain to lose. Separately, he tasks the formidable Hildegarde to take Sif to Blackworld, similarly to ensure her safety – and Hildegard achieves this by knocking Sif out and dragging her there. Confused? You will be.These Asgardian quests take as much from Greek myth as they do Norse, with spins on harpies luring sailors to their deaths and the like. In this episode, a witch, Satrina, has lured away the Warriors Three so that her master, Kartag the Keeper (who guards the cave to the said Twilight Well) can take on Thor alone. But on this page, there is a separate encounter in Blackworld between Sif, Hildegarde and a band of knights on Blackworld. Sif seems happy enough, finally getting to elbow someone in the face, while Hildegarde invents a new sport of Horse Hurling. Those crazy Asgardian kids! John Buscema is really in his element here – charging horses, heroic deeds and characters flying all over the place. And Vinnie pulls out all the stops to show all the action in plenty of detail. Fantastic action page, and an entertaining description as well. Horse hurling? I hope that doesn't mean that you throw up horses along with last night's pizza, haha. Sif looks great in that last panel.

No live horses were harmed in the making of this page.
When the headlock gets applied to the horse, mistake realized.

And she didn't even hurt the horse. Now that is battle skill! I love the Thor stories that heavily delve into myth. They are among my favorite comics, and especially the Buscema run. Great page. Congrats!
