Take a gander at this beauty. Full-page splash by the Master Gil Kane, unencumbered by title page lettering, an inker, or anything. (Though you might note that Kane DID leave space on the top and bottom of the composition for page one legal-language additions. This story was originally produced as an 'INVENTORY' story, I think; for just this situation. Changing from an 18-page story format to a 40-page format must have been a little bit of a shock for the creative team.)

Full team, no action, about to gather around the campfire, I guess. Love the foreshortened HMS Endeavor.

Gil Kane masterfully created a full environment with natural foregrounds and backgrounds that the heroes can inhabit. There is no shortage of wonder from the Kane linework that holds up very well.
