Description

Angel Medina makes another return to the Almond Inkwell in short order after any years of wanting to redeem myself by inking his contemporary work. This time it comes from client Rob Shalda for his welcome first commission after wanting to pull the trigger several times. The challenge with this black costume Spider-man is that Angel drew in most of Spidey's musculature and details in pencil over the shaded figure instead of using highlights so it was my job to do so so that it would read better (partially like treating the details as a negative). I was thrilled to handle the textures of the set/background and the fade away sense of a mister foggy rooftop. I scanned this 11"X17" blueline commission on 2-ply board in both RGB color and grayscale/b&w so one shows some of the residual blue and the other doesn't. I finished this gig August 3, 2020.
