Really great looking piece! Another one of those "It's beautiful in its simplicity" type pieces. Naturally I can't help but see the loose, early 80's Sienkiewicz influenced pen work underneath the lovely watercolor. But I have to say, I'm at least a little bit surprised that you have such an affinity for, ahem...men in pointy, white hoods. 🤪
The watercolors look great here! Nice addition!!!
Beautiful done!
Awesome pickup dude; simple but beautiful!
Hell of a shot of the one true Knight. The fist of vengeance himself. Congrats my friend!
The watercolors over those wispy anchoring ink lines looks very cool. He uses one here and there, maybe to give some definition? It's really well done. Nice patient score. :) Congrats!
Yeah, I think so. That's part of what I like. The figure work/construction set up is minimal, but it's ON point. Struturally there's a realism, "anchoring" as you say, then you've got the looser, more organic, watercolors to contrast. Not sure I'm totally getting it or explaining it right either...but we're close, J! Thanks man, and all, for the comments!
Reis' work is great!
Nice piece, big fan of Reis!
Beautifully painted. Very cool piece!
Oh yeah, how well I know that phenomenon of a piece sticking with you (almost haunting you) until you just have to grab it. And I can totally see why this one did that for you. Wow I REALLY dig those different colors in the background. And a medium like watercolor works so well for a character like Moon Knight, a 'blurry' sort of character who flows from one personality to another. Beautiful get!!
Oooh, good point on the "blurry" nature of the watercolors AND the blurry nature of the character. Hadn't thought of that one, Paul. Love hearing things that others see in art that I don't! Particularly art I own ;) Thanks, man!
Only you, you're the only show I'll see forever
In my art, in my words, and my commenting for you
Nothing else but you ever
And there's painting for me mix media
Every sight that I see mix media
Rod Reis, Rod Reis
Always you, every thought for Feige’s show
Everywhere I go, you'll be
All the world is only
You Rod Reis.
Tonight, Moon Knight
It’s Disney Plus tonight
MCU and the world went away
Moon Knight, tonight
There's only you Moon Knight
Marc Spector, what you do, what you say
So many MK, Marvel, art, etc, references so seemlessly incorporated! "How does he do it, folks?!" Marcus the Maestro. Thanks, brother!
Wonderful Reis painted piece, great play with the lights and shadows intermingling, resulting in some nice grays. Strong pose to go with it.
Nice!
Amazing
The white element of Moon Knight's costume should be intimidating to most but to a few, it is a way to shine.
Fantastic, K. This was a piece that totally grabbed me, too; at a quick first glance I thought it had been a Maleev, so great and "simple" (read: elegant) was the composition and execution. I'm a huge fan of the black "undermask" for Moon Knight, and it's what really makes the image here (can you imagine it with a white undermask? It would still be cool, but this POV would be nowhere near as effective), with the twinkle of an eye sparking out... Great add, K! Excellent taste, as usual!
Yeah, can see the Maleev-ish vibe. I'm not super familiar with Moon Knight comics, so don't know the backstory of the more recent black mask vs the original white, but I definitely agree - as far as this piece? The black MAKES it. Glad you like, Jason, and thanks for comments, as always!
Simple and complex at the same time!
Outstanding piece! At the Marvel panel at SDCC last week, they previewed several new covers for the upcoming Moon Knight run, that Rod is doing. So you got an early piece at a great time! Nice pick-up!
