Description

When I first saw this page I was like wow, that would be nice to have, but I held off because of price and I didn't know the artist. When I received a discounted offer from the seller a few months later, I spent about half an hour contemplating it and then realized that I probably may never see such a quality piece that checked all the boxes for me. The artist put everything on this spread with a great layout, his use of solid ink areas, washes using one method for the sky and then another for the water and great detail in the figures. His Superman face has similar quality to what I've seen with Gary Frank's renditions. I am just so thrilled to have this. I think this is my favorite art in my comic art gallery and it's my 100th piece of Superman art in this gallery.

It's amazing that this is a published piece because it checks all the boxes for a mega commission that satisfies any fan's wish list fantasy piece!

Right. I had to check my issues to confirm this actually existed as a printed page and sure enough, there it was.

Before I clicked the thumbnail for a closer look, my first thought was "Oh, what a shame this is just one of those monoprints.", because both the sky and water appeared to be done digitally. Of course, it all became clear that it was all original the instant I clicked on it and saw the enlarged scan. A stunner of a piece, Lee. This should definitely be featured by Bill or Chris i ntheir Top 10 Pieces of the Week" on next Thursday's YouTube Update.
