GrimJack 61 COVER (Pen & Ink Version)

The stunning cover for GRIMJACK 61 was famously published without logo, just as much to show off entirety of the delightfully... messy subject matter as for any narrative reasons.

Looking closely at both this pen and ink version and the published version, it seems clear to me that there must be a second, painted piece to this cover floating out there somewhere (and it seems I dimly recall it being for sale or something long ago, anyone remember better than I do?).

The inked lines of the central character were apparently used to make him 'pop' from the painted background. In those pre-computer days, they most likely would have used a stat as a 'color hold'... only the hold would have been for the BLACK plate, instead of the Magenta, Yellow, or Cyan you more often would have seen with this technique. Hence the black inked lines laying on top of only the character portion of the color art.

I'm tempted to call this a 'prelim' but there's enough here to justify calling this the cover art. If the painted version is available, I might be interested if it's easily store-able.
