DescriptionSketch of Rogue (Savage Land) by STANLEY "ARTGERM" LAU made at Singapore Comic Con in December 2022A4 size (8.3in x 11.7in) I attended the con as a guest - I was presenting my book - and couldn't pass the opportunity to go over Artgerm's table. He was on my top list since he doesn't attend European conventions. I managed to buy all of his sketchbooks and got some comics signed on the 1st day but was too late to get into his commission list. On the 2nd day, I arrived, quickly signed my books and ran to his table right on time to be the 2nd or 3rd on the list. Rogue was my go-to character and gave him 2 options, either Jim Lee style (jacket, bandana, etc) or Savage Land. He went with the Savage Land option obviously. Social/Sharing |

Such a glamorous look on Rogue. Artgerm uses the rougher line values to bring a nice volume to the figure and her hair, but a sharper line for the face to get great appeal.

Thank you for your comment Marcus. The rough lines as you describe were due to the sketchbook I brought. I use grained paper (for charcoal and watercolor) because sometimes artists use watercolor or other materials that don't look great on thinner paper. In this case it gave a texture to Artgerms' lines that is not his usual style. At least compared to other sketches here on CAF.

He actually went with it. He could have just slowed down or doubled over the lines to make them solid. But good textures that is more thirsty for the ink.
