Description

Stray Toasters is 35 years old!

Book #1 came out September 6, 1988 and the series has been inspiring ever since. It was the brightest north star when making my creator-owned book MONOCYTE at IDW.

This is the cover art for book #2, which was done mostly in oils and includes some of Bill's electrician skills. The art is big and framed, so these are photographs, and I posted the cover as published, too.

The cover features Dr. Montana Violet and his flock of cybernetic crows. Dr. V is quite a catch, basically immobilized by morbid obesity with decaying blue flesh that's eventually held together by wires with a dismemberable head conveniently transported around by the crows. He's great on TV.

Toasters blew my mind like nothing else Bill has ever done. A stunning example from this insanely radical body of work.

Mind blowing work from this classic period of Bill Sienkiewicz! When he works large there is more throught and fiery passion put into the piece. He was bringing fine art sensibilities into the comic world and destroying all preconcieved notions of what funny books can accomplish as an artform.
