DescriptionPosting two more OAX pick-ups tonight that I got directly from the great Bob McLeod at his booth.I debated between this page and another terrific page from the same issue. Decision making is definitely not my forte, but it helped that both Bob and Dan Jurgens (who was in the next booth) both liked this one more. Bob told me he especially liked the way he drew the woman protecting her child on the stairs in the first panel. That was really interesting to me. But I get it. As Spidey is primarily a street-level fighter, elements like backdrop and bystanders can be a big part of the scene and add to the drama. Dan was impressed with how the page gradually narrowed its focus from the top wide panel to a slightly narrower panel, then to a close-up of the two characters, then finally to a close-up of Vengeance and Spidey's fist. All that plus the fantastic background details helped me to ultimately choose this one. Thanks for looking! Social/Sharing |

Today, Spidey is doing the squashing! Great feel for the city too from McLeod.

Love the compact gut punch Spidey dishes out! Street level gritty with McLeod's polish! It perfectly sums up that Spidey fights for the little guys and protects the innocent.

I wish I could see the other page to compare them myself, but this one shows some nice, clear storytelling which is very easy on the eyes, plus some well balanced blacks for extra eye appeal. The mother cowering in fear as she protects her child is one of those nice little bits that helps add the realism that pulls you in as a reader, even though most readers don't typically notice those things. They're jus there, on a subconscious level, but they serve to make the universe you're pulled into all the more believable.

Sweet battle panels. I remember picking up this comic from 7-11 because I loved the master of vegeance's costume design

Great page! The pose and webshot in the first panel is very nice, followed by some up close and hard hitting action.
