Description

I'm not quite sure what to call this. A cover recreation of a comic book that never existed? Back in the 1970's Charlton Comics landed the King Features license and launched or continued Beetle Baily, Flash Gordon, and more. One title announced (and apparently advertised) but never published was Dik Browne's "Hagar the Horrible." The original for this cover exists and was sold on Heritage many years ago. Not long ago born-to-draw-Hagar cartoonist Matt Hansel posted his fun and faithful recreation of this lost comic cover, and, having wished there had been a Hagar comic, I asked if it was for sale. It now has a new home in my collection. Hopefully someday it will be joined by a good Hagar strip original by Browne that I can afford.
