DescriptionLatest Golden Age Team-Up Project commission - The Brave & The Bold issue #239, teaming Batman with Doll Girl, adapted from the Tom Morgan / Brett Breeding cover to Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #105, as reimagined by Bambos Georgiou.1951 - and Gotham City's banks are being attacked and looted by tiny robot replicas of super-heroes! On Monday, miniature versions of Green Arrow and Speedy pinned the guards to the walls of the First National Bank Of Gotham, ubder the watchful eye of a diminutive Liberty Belle, while a foot-tall Hourman ripped the safe door from it's hinge, and a small Starman used his gravity rod to gather the savings within and fly off with them, as well as the other raiders! On Wednesday, tiny versions of the Ray and Dr Mid-Nite dazzled and blinded guards and customers alike at the Gotham State Bank, and a toy-sized Hawkman and Hawkgirl watched as a miniature Atom used his atomic punch to blow the safe, before seizing the contents and lifting them, and the other robots, out of the skylight! And today - Friday - the Batmobile speeds to the site of another robbery at the Union Bank Of Gotham! As Batman rushes into the bank, he sees a foot-tall Doll Girl overseeing a tiny robot Phantom Lady blinding customers, while a miniature Doctor Fate fends off guards, and pint-sized versions of TNT and Dan The Dyna-Mite advance on the strongroom! As the toy raiders turn towards him, Batman triggers the electronic device he carries, and a jamming wave paralyses the robots, leaving them sparking and smoking --- except for Doll Girl! Examing the diminutive figure closely, Batman realises that this is no robot, but the real heroine, strapped into a mechanical harness, now inactive. Leaving Gotham's police to deal with the destroyed robots and secure the bank, Batman carries Doll Girl to his vehicle and quickly returns to the Bat-Cave, where he's able to remove the device from his fellow hero. Returning to full size, Doll Girl briefs Batman - with her boyfriend Darell (Doll Man) Dane at a chemists conference, Martha Roberts had flown to Gotham City on Wednesday in the miniature flying saucer the two tiny heroes use, only to see the toy-sized heroes fleeing the Gotham State Bank, and had given chase. When the robots reached an out-of-town laboratory, Doll Girl sneaked in, and found them being repaired by Superman's old foe the Toyman - but when she tripped a hidden alarm, the villain captured her and created a tiny mechanical harness which controlled her actions, and used her to oversee today's crime! With Doll Girl recovered, she wants payback - and she and Batman are soon racing in the Batmobile to the site of the Toyman's lair. Breaking in, they find the Toyman raging at the failure of his latest robbery, and launch an attack - but as Batman goes to trigger his jamming device, it's destroyed by a ring-blast from a tiny Green Lantern! Batman is then attacked by tiny versions of the Flash and Johnny Quick, who attempt to wrap him in cables, while Doll Girl, back to her small size, battles with a miniature Liberty Belle and Miss America! Acid capsules from Batman's utility belt stop the miniature speedsters, but he faces an aerial assault from Starman and Black Condor, partly fended off by a thrown batarang - and Doll Girl is able to overpower the tiny Liberty Belle and hurl her at the Toyman's control panel, which explodes and shuts down his robots. The two heroes then take the Toyman into custody, relieved that the threat of the miniature heroes is ended. Another new story - next issue! Social/Sharing |
