DescriptionIt’s even better in person, y’all. Manix is all the rage right now and rightly so. I wanted a piece but wanted something where he specifically showed out not just with his stylized illustration chops but also with his equally good design chops…target acquired with this 9x12 get!Check out all the different types of mech and how their compartmentalized within the panel/broker lines…then that layering. You feel like there’s some Kirby and Barry Windsor-Smith channeling but still Manix’s unique voice comes through and through. And oh yes, the colors! Deep and rich, and gives us some crazy nice contrast between panels but also within – see that transistor-y blue backdrop with lighter blue and purple circuits near the bottom for the latter. Lastly, the eyes reminded me of a sunset in my state of AZ :) I was making a hard run at the BWS Machine Man page that closed at Heritage a couple Sundays ago but alas I didn’t get there. Too bad, but I quickly moved on with this consolation. I feel weird even saying “consolation”…I love this piece. Thanks, Manix, Jiggy, and collector bud Marcus Wai for the shipping assist – much appreciated! Social/Sharing |

So much detail and the colors are fantastic, I don't know how Manix comes up with these ideas but glad we get to enjoy them.

Am sad that I passed on this when I did but stoked it went to a great home!
Manix's vision for Machine Man is bar-none!
Congratulations on the new piece! I can't wait to see it in person.

A few folks have mentioned they were mulling this...mix of regret for not getting but also gratitude for not having to think about it anymore, lol.
And yes! In person viewing at some point soon, my man :) Thanks, E.C., and all, for the comments!

Whenever I'm KG
From commissions that rage in my head
You make sense of Manix
When circuitry hangs by a thread
I lose my page, but still you
See a Machine Man
Manix Abrera
I will be your fan
Sometimes I just hold you
Too plugged into Man Machine
I'm holding a fortune
That Marcus has shipped off to me
I'll try to show you
Each of Barry wave I can
Now it’s the colors
For skilled Machine Man
Now, I can test my Kirby
And always be sure
That I won't be alone, transistors
If in Orlando, you were there
In his line
Manix time!

Who the hell would even want a BWS Machine Man page anymore when they have the opportunity to own THIS?!? Killer piece, man, WOW!

I'll be honest... the overload of the same old Manixs is starting to make them loose there luster to me.,, but this is NOT the same old... it's fantastic! Congratulations!

It's a perfect commission choice for Manix, and man does he deliver! The design and detail that went in are both great, but then you have the signature color work. Somewhere Jack Kirby and BWS are smiling :)

I like that last line - both OG's smilin' at the Manix madness :)
I wish I could take credit for commissioning but this was a piece he did on his own accord - I was just lucky enough to pick it up after the fact. The stars (or gears, maybe? Rods? Circuits?!) just aligned :)
Thanks, T to the 2 - glad you like, bud!

There's something delightfully manic about this particular Manix masterpiece. When I look at it, I hear a fun cacophany of "chug chug chug", bleeps and blorps, "zzzts" and other mechanical noises. And ooh those wonderful colors! I just love everything about this piece.

Dude! I didn't even think about it, but YES. Can absolutely hear and feel those works while looking at this...and not hard to picture the different elements of the image moving in accordance! Thanks for the add, Paul!

I'm surprised this was still available (I thought it was snapped up when it dropped), so congrats on picking it up! It's a neat combination of Manix's style with some Kirby influences (I'm not familiar enough to see the BWS influences, but I'm sure they're there).

Killer Machine Man pin-up by Manix Abrera! I love how Manix can take any superhero and make it his own. In Manix world, everyone has rubbery limbs and lives in a brightly colored universe. Great pick-up, congrats!

I have such love for this piece. I thought it was super cool when I saw it and met Manix & the Next crew at OAX 2024, but I now think of it as the earliest (known to me) example of my favorite Manix style - the comic art / pop art mash-up. I may post mine if I ever quit my now two-year streak of lazy non-posting, but in the meantime, highest congrats! (Again, since I said the same thing to you in person at Heroes 2024).
Plus it's a nod to the great BWS Machine Man covers, but that's a whole separate reply and topic.

Yeah, Andy, you did share at Hereos and I appreciate you sharing again here! I'm right there with you as far as this being a prime Manix example, and yes, I did think about those BWS covers :) Was great catching up for a bit Heroes - 'til the next one! Thanks for the add!

FANTASTIC!! Right there, firmly treading the Kirby line, but -totally- Manix, with a simultaneously "ultra-futuristic" and "runs on transistors" feel - and both feel right! The majesty of Manix channeling King Kirby! Gorgeous colors, and unmistakable "feel" to the piece. Past. present, and future in one! I'm really sorry you didn't get the BWS Machine Man - these two pieces together would have been spectacular bookends - but your BWS MM page is coming... I feel it in my circuits! So, SO cool, man - GREAT add! Congrats!

It's all good, man, I'm happy with this! And I got something comin' on the published Machine Man front...not quite from the BWS series but close :) Thanks for the add, man, and I agree how you got some o' everything in this one...Kirby, BWS, and ALL Manix!
