DescriptionFawcett is one of my favorite mid-century illustrators and I’m always in awe of his draftsmanship and the way his drawing precision meshes with the chaotic mark making he uses for the finish. This piece was hanging around on eBay forever and I finally decided to make a lowball offer for it because finished illustrations by Fawcett are quickly getting out of my price range. If anyone knows if this piece was published somewhere please let me know. The interviews I’ve read from Fawcett make me think he wouldn’t do a piece as detailed as this for free so I wouldn’t be surprised if it made it to print.Social/Sharing |

You're missing the cultural significance of George Washington at the top and it's the fountain seen when Rocky turns around when he reches the top of the steps in the training montage.

Cool thanks for pointing that out Marcus. It's been quite a minute since I rewatched Rocky so I'm hat will be something to look forward too 👍

Nice. Not often you can pick up a finished Fawcett. I hope you find out where it is published. Are you a part of the Facebook group Today's inspiration? lot of well versed artists and fans of mid century illustration on there, I bet someone will know. Congrats!
