Description
"Hello, Larry"

What more to add to a classic Badger pose in an early issue? Threatening while being somehow absurd at the same time.

Several themes made the Badger realistic and different from even the mid 1980's alternative comics fare: mental illness, child abuse, environmental issues, animal rights. Baron and Reinhold also portrayed some of the most true martial arts scenes made - Baron was a practitioner and took pride in his fight scenes being (mostly) possible.

Unrelated - it is a mystery where pages from Badger issues 1-4 live, if they still exist at all. None are on CAF, I believe. Pages from issue 5 are the oldest public Badger art, with the exception of some original art from First marketing materials. Does anyone know where the early Jeff Butler pages are???

Neat storytelling page, with the funny 2 word payoff. Congrats!

Fun to see these early pages. Maybe the collector Shaun Clancy can help you track down those pages or get in touch with Butler. He seems to have some early pages and has commissioned Butler.

Jeff Butler has a website and does commissions but he didn't respond to the question about early pages.

Fantastic! I once owned the #2 cover, so that Butler art is out there, at least.
