Lonergan uses so many techniques!  It's great for someone like you who can break each of them down with some study.  They are used here to convey the mad sprint of this Batman headed for a gang fight!

Excellent pick up! Were you able to grab a copy of Jesse's "We Ride At Night" mini comic while at Heroes too? That's where this Batman design comes from. It's quite fun, a high octane adventure that feels a bit like a Guy Richie film out of the early 2000's. Worth checking out for sure!
