Description
David Wright did several prelims for a Schweppes advertising campaign in the 1960s. It’s unknown whether they were ever used, but they are the most exquisite small pieces in Wright’s oeuvre.

The model is Maggie Wadey, a girlfriend of Wright’s son Nicky, who went on to a distinguished career as a novelist and screenwriter.

This piece was featured on page 183 of Terry Parker’s ‘Sirens: The Pin-Up Art of David Wright’, the definitive examination of David Wright’s commercial illustration and pin-up work.

The art is gouache with a sheet size of about 11 3⁄4 x 9 1/4 with an image area about 10 1⁄2 x 8 inches.

Maggie had to have been quite the stunner. Wasn't she also the model for Angela in the Carol Day strip?

Really beautiful Chris! I recognize Maggie from the "Shadow of Suspicion" sequence...one of our favorite storylines.

She's covering the goods, which is not good. Does drinking Schweppes give you a one way ticket to hotty central? Her legs are longer than the logo! Valid questions and critiques from one who knows are surely appreciated by you?
