Ha ha! So true. It really is a tale of two stories - seen only in terms of the rawness of fear by the Bog Beast at the top, and only in terms of the raw pain of humanity in the bottom tier.

Wow what a tragic story!!  But a great page.  Love those top three panels.

Thanks Paul! Man-Thing pages that actually have Man-Thing on can be a rare commoditiy, and Buscema finds a storytelling reason to even gradually squeeze him out of the panels in the top sequence, making him seem even more distant from the 'human' scene.

Really love the ant's eye view of the fifth panel, highlighting the gun which will add to this tragedy!

Yes, it is the panel that is doing so much of the heavy lifting here, given the rest of the storytelling is so slow. It's the 'angry', dynamic part, and Buscema did choose an interesting angle for it. Thanks.

Extraordinary storytelling in the lower panels. Every piece of Big John is a masterpiece!!
