It's amazing to me that what pieces of art that are still out there from this time period still exist. Most all of it was treated as junk culture never to survive it's original purpose. That being said that's really cool

Yes, that's very true, sadly. Once printed, quickly forgotten - by the publishers. But fans kept some of the pages safe, and good fortune handed others down through the ages.

With all the stories of pages being cut up and thrown away, it really is amazing that stuff (other than unpublished inventory) survived.

Early C.C. Beck Captain Marvel art feels like a raw and pure time capsule - good to know this page has a top notch caretaker for the time being, considering all the challenges it faced just to survive until now! thank you for sharing it.

Thanks, Toni! I read some reprints in Shazam (especially the 100 pagers) and those huge treasury sized DC Limited Collectors' Edition. Apparently this one was reprinted in "The Shazam! Archives" #1, but the story was a new one to me.
