Description

My parents were worried that I wanted to read some of Marvel's monster books, but they eventually decided that as long as I was reading it was OK. When I finally got permission, the one I went to first and liked the most, especially in the beginning, was Werewolf By Night. Mike Ploog's art on that and other books was unmistakable for anyone else. If I saw his name in a book, that book was in my collection.

This particular item is a prelim that Mike Ploog did for Lone Wolf & Cub # 41 (First Comics). I bought it from Jim Warden at DOA, & he was a pleasure to deal with.

LW&C was one of the first manga to be translated into English & published in the USA. First Comics (remember them?) initially got Frank Miller to do the covers. Later they got other famous artists, including, of course, Mr. Ploog.

From time to time, I like to see how artists from other countries draw characters from my adopted country's famous works. This is a pretty good example.

any ploog artwork is great, and to have it be Lone Wolf & Cub is even greater.

Very nice indeed! I have to echo your sentiments about the great Mike Ploog. His Werewolf By Night art was incredibly compelling to me as a kid, and his Frankenstein and Man Thing books are classics. Ploog pulled me into the hobby... and then effectively left comics for years! *sob* Thanks for sharing this great example of Ploog's amazing art!

Ploog equals awesome! To echo the sentiments of The other comments, Ploog Ghost Rider drew me in to comics. Great piece
