Description

Joe Rubinstein contacted me about the possibility of a commission and after seeing some of the great art done for some of my fellow CAF members, I thought it would be a great idea. I told him about my Shakespeare Project that I did back in the early 1980s and how I regretted not getting a certain pair of star-crossed lovers done because I just couldn't settle on the right pairing. I had thought about Spidey & Gwen, Kitty & Colossus, or Robin & Batgirl but none of the teen-aged characters I thought of seemed to work. Joe tossed out the whole teenager problem by suggesting Norrin Radd and Shalla-Bal. If ever the words "star-crossed lovers" described two comic book characters, it is these two. Here for your enjoyment is the first prelim sketch that Joe sent me. I liked it quite a bit, but I did make one tiny request. I asked that our two star-crossed lovers were reaching out to each other in unrequited longing.
