Description

When I saw that Mark Schultz was doing a cover for Comics Revue featuring Flash Gordon, Dale Arden and Prince Valiant together, I felt it was something that I HAD to try to obtain. I emailed Mark, and he let me know the price and that it had not yet been spoken for, so I confirmed my interest and went about saving up the necessary funds. The image size is 9 1/2" x 12 1/2." Brush and india ink on Strathmore bristol board. It is a wonderful testament to Mark's admiration of the work of Alex Raymond, Hal Foster and Al Williamson. Mark's own style is everywhere present in this piece, and I'm pleased to have it in my collection.

Another reason Mark is a "modern master"! I love the fact he chose to make Flash and Val have similar facial structures and expressions too. As with everything he does (and I mean EVERYthing), the inking is so clean and beautiful it's simply sublime. Congrats, Ray!

I'm a big fan of Mark, too, and feel he can do no wrong. Glad to hear you got a piece you really wanted featuring characters you love (kind'a sums up the best of the hobby for me). Congrats!

Congratulations, Ray. This is another gen added to your collection. Mark Schultz is the best artist to depict both Flash and Val...so having both in one wonderful cover is beyond awesome!
