Description

And speaking of Jesus,we come to my final topic in this five year adventure in comic art collectiing. I purchased page from Swamp Thing #60 from Coollines art at the San Diego Comic Con in 2004. It is special for three reasons:
1) This page is from the last story arc of the prized Alan Moore / John Totleben Swamp Thing run. This issue was part of the "Swamp Thing in Space" storyline, where Swamp Thing meets most of DC's spaced based heroes.
2) This was a very experimental issue. Most of the pages were not only drawn, but were mixed media art comprised of ink, paint, photos, stats, and even three dimensional objects (this one has string as part of the canvas). Besides being a freaky little story (Swamp Thing gets raped by a cybernetic alien), it was also the first issue of Swamp Thing printed in DC Comics "new format" featuring high quality paper. Just picking it up, you know their is something weird and different about this issue.
3) I also purchased this issue when I received my job offer for what would become my first (and so far only) real job straight out of college (if waiting for six months to get a job is straight out of college....sweat...sweat). I started collecting comic art again in 2001 after quitting a decade early. Once of the main reasons was, I was once again interested in finding the art for the Infamous and Unpublished Swamp Thing #88, where the time traveling Swamp Thing was sceduled to meet Jesus. Thus we beging the quest, "Monty Jim and the Search for the Holy Grailpages"...
