Karate Kid vs. Midnight Sun by Michael Walsh and Simon Gough

When I contacted Michael about buying the OMAC piece he had drawn, I also asked him about doing this commission. I'd been wanting to get one of Karate Kid fighting Midnight Sun for quite a while, but never could decide on an artist for it. After seeing a lot of Michael's work, I knew that he could draw any opponent and make it look amazing, so I asked him to tackle this battle. I first read about Midnight Sun in an old Silver Surfer comic where he was a cosmic kung-fu fighter who kicked the Surfer right off of his board. Years later, I learned about his history as an old Shang-Chi villain, and reading those old stories made me like the character even more. Michael did a great job here showing their battle, and I like how M'Nai is ducking the kick from behind (even if he's losing his hat in the process) because he's just that good that he would sense an attack from behind. And Michael also did a great job with Val's pose, M'Nai's jacket, and the mountains in the background. Big thanks to Michael for this stellar commission!

Both of these guys are martial arts masters who have gone toe-to-toe with some of the most powerful characters in comics. They're also two of the only masters of zero-gravity martial arts. Midnight Sun is stronger and faster, but Val Armorr has more skills than M'Nai. I say Karate Kid wins, but just barely.
