Description
Batman. Ra’s al Ghul. Batman’s rogue’s gallery. An assist in defeating them from two of his loveliest adversaries, Catwoman and Talia al Ghul. The Batcave. The Joker & the Penguin teaming up in 50’s camp fashion to take the Gotham City Police force as prisoners by enveloping their headquarters in a giant steel net. And, to top it all off, art contributed by Brian Bolland. Where to find all that? How about the two sequential epilogue pages from the “Resurrection Night!” storyline from the Batman #400 anniversary issue.

Page 59 (this one) features some of Batman’s strongest personal connections – Alfred Pennyworth, Commission Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Julia Pennyworth (Alfred’s daughter) and Vicki Vale – post-kidnapping by Batman’s rogue’s gallery and post-rescue by Batman.

Page 60 features a brooding Batman contrasted with a large sampling from his rogue’s gallery - Clayface, Captain Stingaree, Two-Face, Doctor Phosphorous, Black Mask, the Penguin and Doctor Double X, among others.

Bolland appropriately concluded (and provided art for the most pages within) an issue featuring art from an all-star roster of artists at the time – John Byrne, George Perez, Bill Sienkiewicz, Arthur Adams and Joe Kubert included.

I love the small touches. The detail of the cave, the expressions when the stalagtite hits the cake. Just great!!

Brilliant pages. Bolland's Batman gives the dogma of Neal Adams being the definitive modern version of the character a serious challenge.

A great Bolland page, with plenty of humour and his beautifully clean, confident lines.
