Description

This is a 9 x 12 brainstorming page for a commission order I recently took. Again I apologize for the graininess of the image but still lacking a scanner. The setup is a grudge match between the prince of Asgard and Themyscira's Amazon princess. Or, simply put, the mighty Thor vs. Wonder woman. In my mind I thought about that one splash between Doomsday and Superman in Superman #75 capturing the windup for the killing blow, and figured it would be perfect for these two titans. Thor charging in the air with Mjolnir drawn back for a killing blow, but his wrist lassoed by Diana, who is trying to ruin his attack by dragging him down. This will be a classic costume for Thor while the Dodson design for Diana's outfit (NOTE: I hate the old girdle). This is a study of different ways to depict Thor, a few photo referenced from both myself and bodybuilder pictures. The faces, however, are original. I think the biggest pain in this character for me to draw is the helmet. Making the wings look right and the helmet itself look sized correctly is a concern. This will be a 9 x 12" format on Strathmore. More as it develops.
