DescriptionBy the time Al was producing this exquisite story for Warren he had refined the elegance of his inking style to high art and was achieving the sublime. He produced some fantastic work at Warren, and of course would within a year achieve his dream of drawing Flash Gordon stories for King as well. A very peak time for the artist when his mastery of the artform became undeniable.I love the way Williamson had the most uncanny ability to portray the human form in all its natural fluidity, whether at rest or in extreme motion. I think this ability to capture true human form, coupled with his affinity for adventure and the heroic really made Al one of the very greatest comic artists. What is fantastic about this Warren page is that it shows off all these elements. I think Al pulled out just about every trick in the inker's handbook here! (Finally got a hi res scan like this page deserves - Enjoy!) Social/Sharing |

Great page. Al was one of the best and most consistent talents to ever lay pen to paper. In addition to his excellent grasp pf gesture and timing, I have always loved the way he treated clothing. A great page from a great talent.

Another home run acquisition, Tom. Williamson knew exactly how much to put in his panels... fluidity is RIGHT... and look at that girl's stance... sublime.

Sigh, I wish Al did more work for Warren only so we can have more gems like this! Congrats, Tom.
