Batman Son of the Demon Splash Art by Jerry Bingham

Wonderfully stunning 2/3rds splash page original artwork for Batman Son of the Demon (SOD) by the superbly talented Jerry Bingham (pencils and inks). SOD was the very first Batman graphic novel ever published by DC, so very significant and ultra successful that it not only thrilled and enthralled readers around the globe, but has served as an lasting inspiration for an innumerable amount of comic book creators, writers and artists alike (including Alex Ross) for decades since its original publication back in 1987. Brilliantly written by Mike W. Barr and beautifully illustrated by Bingham, who painstakingly inked each and every page with a quill pen for maximum dramatic detail and epic effectiveness, this book is just simply loaded with various factors which make it so very, very special indeed - Batman marrying Talia and having a son with her and teaming up with his arch-foe Ra's Al Ghul to take down a dangerous terrorist whose diabolical plans threaten the entire planet.

This special piece depicts a key scene in the story as Ra's Al Ghul introduces Batman as his "Second-in-Command," who undertakes the difficult task of retraining Al Ghul's assassins various techniques in non-lethal hand-to-hand combat. There is also a touching panel of Batman and Talia in each others arms as he finds time to be a newlywed with his lovely bride. This represents one of the very best pages in the entire book! So beautifully composed by Bingham with a myriad of images of Batman in full melee and one of the very few that could be truly considered an actual splash page since the story was so robust that it simply demanded many panels on each one to complete the story - one that took the artist a year and a half to finally finish. Now, that's dedication to one's profession!
