Description

Near the end of May the artist Mall Licudine posted on her instagram to check out of the art of her friend Jallena Love who lives in the Philippines. She said that Jallena was trying to raise funds to pay medical bills for an illness so of course I decided to check it out and see if I couldn't help her out. Upon viewing her art I immediately knew that I had to find a piece to purchase because I loved her style and what she was doing with what she calls her Nebula Girls.

After purchasing the piece "Jewel" from Jallena I decided to commission a kimono girl as well. There was one sketch that she had posted on her instagram that I loved so I asked her to base the piece after it. She began sketching up some concepts for the piece and emailed them to me. I immediately loved the design of the kimono girl with the nebula in the background and cherry blossoms. She began working on the piece and sent updates almost every morning as she was working on it since her time zone is 12 hours ahead of where I live. I loved receiving the updates like that and it was a real pleasure corresponding with her. It really touched my heart when she thanked me for helping her in almost every email. I could tell that she really appreciated my help so I decided to commission a second one of the kimono girl sketches she had drawn up as well as this because I had loved them both when I saw them. I knew she would really appreciate it and I knew it was for a good cause so it was truly my pleasure to help her.

I absolutely love the pose in this piece and the serenity on her face. I knew Jallena would come up with a fantastic piece so I had no trouble letting her do whatever she wanted with it. I had requested she add the floating cherry blossom petals since I thought they would be beautiful against the nebula in the background. That was a great addition to the piece. Another awesome kimono girl by a talented artist.
