Karate Kid vs. The Punisher by Ben Sears

Ben Sears is one of those artists that I discovered on the internet thanks to another artist tweeting about their work. I immediately fell in love with his style and marveled at how good he is at storytelling. Eventually I got around to commissioning him and sent him some options for opponents for a Karate Kid piece, and he picked the Punisher. A short while later Ben produced this piece and it knocked my socks off. It is so awesome and funny and how can you not love it? My favorite bit here is Val chopping Frank's bullets out of the air, because it's so crazy and brilliant. But I also love the action poses here, Frank's face and clothes, and the awesome lettering. Huge thanks to Ben for delivering what is definitely one of my favorite commissions!

The Punisher is mainly known for using guns, but he's also a fantastic hand-to-hand fighter. Marvel even had a feature in The Punisher Annual #2 about his various fighting techniques. That said, Frank Castle has no chance. Val will put him down hard, whether Frank is armed or not. Now, could Val actually chop Frank's bullets out of the air as Frank shot them? Well, we've never seen him do it before, but Karate Kid has accomplished plenty of crazy all-but-impossible feats with his martials arts, so why not? Sorry, Frank!
