Description

I think Nick's greatest "fault" as an artist is that he made it look too easy. He falls between artists who draw a lot of lines that are supposed to mean something and artists who are so economical and bold with their lines and blacks.

Nick usually left the ocean as whitespace. This page shows a very different underwater setting.

The top 3 panels are amazing. In a way, Nick actually started with a lot of lines that actually do mean something in the first panel and progressed to something more bold in the third panel. Typical for Nick, layouts in blue pencil followed by pens and brushes to finish it off.

Aquaman was created by created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger.

Aqualad was created by Robert Bernstein and Ramona Fradon.

You are so right, Nick Cardy made it look effortless but this type of work stands the test of time. I understand why it is hard to resist the Siren's Call to "COLLECT MORE CARDY, COLLECT MORE CARDY "
