Description

Here's a double-spread which clearly needed a bit of editorial work to make print-ready.

Compare to the published version, and you'll see the effort that went into adding horizontal space to all three lines of art at the comic page 'crease.'

Lettering (where present) has also been re-aligned.

All this would have been done on a stat copy, long since destroyed. You can tell another copy was used as the Print Version, not only from the unfinished nature of this piece, but by the fact the paper is full-sized; uncut with all corners present. There would also have been little 'target' decals for the red overlay on the right page, since they aren't present here they must have been used on a stat copy.

One tiny bit of lettering was missing from the bottom row. The Special Edition reprint series filled it in to read '...the first of his Dog Soldiers' but the handwritten note tells us Mantlo's initial intent was for it to read '...the first of his Faceless Shadow Priests.'
