Description
Here's another Broderick page which apparently needed some work on the Editorial Side.

The page is uncut, unlike almost all pages from this era, which generally signifies a lot of finishing work being done on a Stat Copy rather than the original. The Editorial Note on the bottom indicates they requested a larger 'twice-up' stat copy to work on, so there was some fussy detail work still to be done.

The stat of the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo is sadly missing, long since fallen off; not unusual when a stat is attached to that much black ink rather than directly to the paper. Note 'Chapter Two' (on the round word balloon) went away in the published version. The 'indicia' stat (with addresses, subscription info, and typical legal declarations, visible on all 'Page Ones' of this era), must have been attached only to the production stat version.

Broderick left white space available for the letterer to hand-print the issue's credits, which usually calls for a 'reverse stat' (white letters on black space) to eventually cover the original lettering. That also fell on the Production Stat copy, observing as well that Editorial elected to go with some obviously non-hand-drawn lettering for the final.

Finally, compare to the published page above, and you'll see that the 'Character Line-Up' was moved from the bottom of the page to the top. Good call, I say.

Still, a striking Page One.

This was such a fun storyline. It's cool to get such insights into the production and editorial process through this piece of art. Thanks for sharing, Andrew!
