DescriptionWhen the Power Company title was being published, the title's editorial team wanted to have another character join the team. But rather than talk it over and make the decision between themselves and the writer, DC ran a contest to let the fans vote on which character should be the newest member as drawn from a short list, and that member would join the rest of the team on a future cover. So in anticipation of the results, the editor had Grummett draw a cover featuring the current team members awaiting the arrival of the new one, but leaving an empty space where the new member would eventually be drawn in. Grummett was then asked to draw each of the potential new members on different boards, just to have the cover art finished and ready to publish as soon as the fan voting results came in. This piece is one of those boards, the original art of Superboy, in case he was the member fans ended up voting in. Ultimately, it was Firestorm who was selected and that art can be found elsewhere here on CAF.Take a look at the additional image above to see the published cover as it appeared on the comic!
