Stone Boy by Gene Gonzales and Simon Gough

I try to commission Gene Gonzales to draw a Legion character or two for me every year, and this year was no exception. I commissioned a few this time, most of them in costumes that Gene had not drawn before. First�up was Mr. Dag Wentim, aka Stone Boy! I've said it before a few times, but it always bears repeating - Stone Boy is my favorite member of the Legion of Substitute Heroes. The second Legion of Super-Heroes story I ever read was the one where Stone Boy was offered membership in the Legion, but he turned it down to stay with the Subs. So I always love seeing Stone Boy getting some action, and I loved seeing him used as a weapon in Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes story. I asked Gene to take a crack at this costume and of course Gene did an amazing job! Gene can draw any character well, but he seems to really excel when it comes to Legion characters. I love the look on Dag's face, the rough stone structure of his body, and of course the bird perched on his shoulder! Then I had the lovely and talented Simon Gough add some stunning colors to the commission. I love the warm feeling of the browns and oranges in Dag's costume, and the stone-colored background Simon added. Big thanks to Gene and Simon for another extraordinary collaboration!

Nice! A Maquire-ish sort of vibe but with Gene's spin. And love the color work - really makes the image. Congrats!
