Lightning Lass by

Although Gene Gonzales has drawn almost every single Legionnaire at some point, and most of them in multiple costumes, he had never drawn Lightning Lass in this particular outfit until I commissioned it. And to be fair, this is one of the rarer costumes in Ayla Ranzz's history. She only wore it in a few issues, though thanks to some strange timing it is the costume she wears in her "Who's Who in the Legion of Super-Heroes" entry. Anyway, I dig this outfit. I like the lightning shoulder pads and the wide belt a lot. Gene, of course, delivered a gorgeous commission here. I love the look on Ayla's face, that slight tilt of her head, and how she's shooting lightning out of her fingers. It's like she's asking some foe "C'mon, do you REALLY want to test me?" After Gene sent me the scan, I passed it on to Simon Gough, who once again showed off his mastery of coloring. Those blues are just beautiful, both in her costume and in the background. I also really dig how Simon colored Ayla's hair, and the pink lightning looks fantastic. Both Gene and Simon continue to astound me with their artistic gifts, and I cannot recommend them enough for everyone's artistic needs!
