Description
There are many pages in my collection that I have not posted or shared publicly. This is mainly due to a combination of laziness and my feeling that not many people would be as interested in the art as I am.
This was one such page which has been on my wall for over 30 years.
In 1986 Dan Day and David Day started adapting the stories of Sherlock Holmes. Published by Renegade Press the series ran for 15 issues. (plus 5 more published by Northstar)
I also discovered in the back of the issues that you could write to them and buy original art from the books.
In Issue 12, they adapted the story 'The Adventure of Silver Blaze' which contained some of the more famous lines from the books:
Gregory (Scotland Yard detective): Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?
Holmes: To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.
Gregory: The dog did nothing in the night-time.
Holmes: That was the curious incident.
So in 1988, I wrote to them and bought a few pages including this one with said dialogue.
And I get an immense sense of satisfaction when I walk by this illustration.

Wonderful Sherlock Holmes art, great likeness of Basil Rathbone, and interesting background on how you acquired the piece.  I hope you have more Sherlock Holmes art to post!

Very much frame worthy if not for the beautifully illustrated art, then for the sake of the story and nostalgia behind it.

Miki, don't waste time worrying about whether people will care. When the art is this good, it deserve to be seen!

I remember this series in the 80's well. And this page was a standout for all the reasons you describe. Thank you for posting! Very much appreciated!

Awesome rendering of Basil Rathbone as the greatest Sherlock Holmes.

Wonderful Day example!  Great expression in the portrait and I love how he indicated the train passing in the night, all in his distinctive inking style
