DescriptionSo this was the very first panel page I ever picked up very early into collecting. Soon after, I made the decision to stick with commissions (no reflection on this piece).I actually really dig Scott Summers as a character. He has his haters but whatever - when written by someone who gives a crap, ole Slim’s the best of what the X-Men can be. “I’ve been a student, a warrior, a teacher, a revolutionary, a…killer” This is the page right before the DPS where Blackbolt annihilates him and he becomes the “X” referred to in the title of the book. I have mixed feelings regarding this storyline and this period of the character arc in general but Garron (and Aaron Kuder splitting art duties) was excellent. The widescreen storytelling is great and there are some nice shots of Emma, Magik, Medusa and Blackbolt here. That killer final panel with Cyke winding up his optic blast is a personal fave. Garron continues his practice of not filling in all his blacks which can be problematic in crowded scenes with backgrounds where it’s hard to see depth, but doesn’t bother me as much here. As a self-proclained Cyclops hater, this is a great page. Of all the things jumoing out at me is Medusa's furrowed brow in the next to last panel. Just great detail throughout.

First encountered Garron's art when he did one of the Red Goblin variant covers... sky is the limit for this guy. Eranga taking good care of the Summers family!

I think the first time I saw his work was the Cyclops limited series (coincidence?)...loved the energy inherent in his work and glad to see Marvel giving him a spotlight! Cyke 4 Lyfe!

I don't remember anything about this miniseries but I like Garron's art.
I especially love that last pannel.
And, oh, great backgrounds too ^^

Thanks, FM! I'm not sure if the mini-series is required reading but the art was beautiful! I really wish I could have the DPS that followed this one.

Great page, love the flow leading to the last panel. Congratulations! Welcome to published art - watch your descent, it's a slippery slope. Thanks for sharing E.

Thanks, Dave! I bought this in late 2019 and then managed to pump the brakes so I thought I was safe. Someone cut my break lines in the last few months though...

Very cool, man, in terms of the top to bottom storytelling! I need to get my Garron example. And I'm a Cyke fan, too. His story arc over the years is nuts, and he's always the dude others look to to make the hard decisions. Congrats!

Beautiful Lines, Clean and Crisp. All I know is, their would be no Cable without a Cyclops, and that just can't happen lol.
