Archie Giant #3 by George Frese - 3 page story 1956

I am an unapologetic fan of early Archie artwork! From the beginning until the mid 70's, there is so much to love about the art and fun stories. The stories themselves were very pedestrian but charming and one can't argue with the success of the franchise. For me the sweet spot for Archie art is from about 1954 to 1965. One could almost call this the Dan Decarlo era as he came and redefined how the cast of Archie would look going forward. In the early years there were a number of key artists who had distinctive styles. Among them was George Frese who was at a time, one of the most proliferative artists on Archie. He died in 1956 and so this would have been on of his last stories. He had a very distinctive style and his art graced the cover of many an Archie Comic.
