DescriptionThis seems to be a sample strip that Powell drew but which didn't get picked up for syndication. There are a couple other examples of it around. "Slewfoot Jones" was a hillbilly/baseball character who appeared in some Golden Age sports comic books around 1947, so I would guess the attempt at syndication was around the same time.I especially like the middle two panels here... the shapes and negative space are great, and nice inking on the old man's face. The facial expressions are crafted with care for the old man and the fun aw shucks last panel. They are well designed to be consistently keep that look.
