Azrael by Ron Salas

The first time I encountered Azarel was at the beginning of the Knightfall crossover when he was wearing some bland black leather outfit. It did not impress me. But then I tracked down the Sword of Azrael miniseries, and I was blown away by this cool costume that Joe Quesada designed. And I was so glad that Jean-Paul went back to wearing it after his failed stint as Batman. And the Azarel solo series by Dennis O'Neil (and a bunch of talented artists) that followed was extremely underrated. So yeah, what I'm saying is I like Azrael's look and his story. I commissioned Ron Salas to draw Jean-Paul, and dang, if he didn't deliver one awesome depiction of him! Azarel himself looks incredible (love that flowing cape), but also check out all those flames around him and the fiery background! As usual, I cannot thank Ron enough for always going above and beyond with these commissions!

Awesome piece! I'm a fan of Quesada's classic costume too, and the flames recall Kevin Nowlan's work on the mini!

The Knightfall Saga hits directly in my nostalgic sweet spot, but it's great to see that a lot of the visual designs of that era have aged quite well. Great rendition by Ron here. Congrats!

Beautiful! Azrael has been a favorite character of mine since he first appeared in "Sword". I honestly think DC missed out on making a TV show abut him and now that MoonKnight is out az looks like animitation now.
