Batman, Green Lantern and the Flash by Sheldon Moldoff

Fantastic piece by Shelly's own hand!  These multi character pieces are fun to look at as they bear the look of the Golden Age where crossovers were rare.  

Cool mix of characters.  What really caught my eye is that this is not an image that Moldoff repeated countless times.  I still feel bad that I never got one of his many Flash Comics #1 recreations.  But it's also nice to see that he was doing other drawings.  So this is a special one.

Apparently it's not as unique as I thought, as I just found on eBay a moment ago a very similar (but not identical) piece that someone is selling for only fifty times more than what I paid for mine 23 years ago.  Oh well!

Moldoff specialty pieces represent the very definition of fun. Thanks to the foresight you had to break free of your Marvel Zombie status 10 years earlier, you even got yourself a nice DC piece for your 2nd ever piece of original art. Cool! Now you just have to dump all those long boxes and truly be free! Gain back a ton of space in your life AND have a ton more money to buy more art with! Just pull out a few of your favourite storylines that AREN'T available in print as trade paperbacks before selling the comics. 😃

Yeah, I've been saying for months now that I need to sell my back issues.  My problem is finding the time to properly sort them and in a few cases get stuff graded.  I'd rather do it all myself rather than sell the whole thing at once to someone like Mike High Comics, but it's a daunting task.  I'll get to it eventually.

It must be a testament to the markers that Moldoff used, because I did not store this thing well for the first few years (it was loose in an attic on top of a box).  Nowadays, I know how to better care for it.

A Moldoff Batman piece was also one of my very first art purchases back in the day. Also an eBay purchase from around that time when Sheldon was regularly selling his colored marker pieces on eBay. Great classic image.

Beautiful piece!

The seeds (and appreciation) of owning a piece of comic history blossoming into true art collectormania grow differently in each one of us.  It's cool to look back and trace the development and anything featuring Jay and Alan is going to be a winner in my book and especially art by an early master of the Golden Age.

Oh, yeah! I love these Moldoff pieces. When I was doing the bin thing, too (agreed. Duh), these pieces would catch my eye. All those great Golden Age images. Nice call. Congrats!

Great piece, Michael, and you can't ask for a better piece sporting the clean, brightly-lit, colorful vision of the future that the Golden Age comics touted.  Brilliant colors, and I'm particularly enthralled with the design of the robot (especially the right hand).  Really super work.

Great "art collector origin story", too, Michael.  I think one of the main things that unifies us all - never mind the ART! :) - is the fact that we all wish we had started sooner.  Your first steps were sure great ones, though!

I've been working over the last couple weeks to catalog my comic collection as well, in the hopes that I can eventually "winnow down" a bit (and if funds for more art ultimately comes from it, so much the better).  If I can do it, you can, too!  Solidarity, brother!

Good luck with cataloging your collection!  My thinking is that by the time I manage to get mine to where it needs to be to sell, people will have turned their attention to pogs.

Yeah, it took a confluence of certain events in 2013 to put an end to my buying of comic book back issues, which caused me to then look for something to fill the void.  Welcome to original art to fill that void (and also create a new void, this one in my bank account).
