DescriptionWhen I answered the doorbell and saw this on my porch, that's exactly what I thought. WTF????? This is easily the biggest art box I've ever received.
As far as what's inside, I would love nothing more than to announce that it's my 100th Art Adams piece, but alas, it is not. Still on the hunt for that one. Which reminds me, if anyone has a nice, high end, Adams piece they would like to sell or trade, please let me know. Would love to celebrate #100 with a special piece. Anyway, just wanted to share the fun and weirdness of it with everyone. I'll see you all tomorrow with my usual beginning of the week post. And in case any of you are wondering if it will be any of the pieces I got Friday, all I can say is, patience grasshopper. Still have to get everything scanned and work on all the write ups. So it will be a while. But I do have other pieces lined up for the next few weeks, so there will be plenty to see. Stay tuned, and stay safe. Social/Sharing |

RE ' This is easily the biggest art box I've ever received.' Maybe you are smaller than you thought or suffering age related shrinkage?

If only you had a nickel for every packing peanut you received in that box. Can't wait to see what's coming! Congrats on winning.

Dude, even if I had a PENNY for every packing peanut I have, I'd be loaded. I think the only thing funnier than this picture would be a photo of me with all the bags of packing peanuts in my garage. LOL! Does anyone have any tips on where to unload all that crap?

If I get the starchy peanuts, I dissolve them in a bucket with hot water. But it's not a perfect process. It takes some research but I was able to drop off some styrofoam peanuts with a place that was accepting them, call to confirm. Standing by for the art post !!!

WTF????? (sorry, couldn't resist) They dissolve in water? No way! I've never even heard of that. Is there a YouTube video? LOL! What the hell is styrofoam made of anyway? I always think of it as one of those indisposable materials that the planet will eventually be buried in (like plastic and teflon) that we wish we could disinvent. LOL!

We demand a youtube unboxing video!
Darn, why didn't I think of that? Unfortunately James, we've already gone past the point of no return with the logistics involved. First, I would have to re-wrap the piece, tape it back up between the cardboard backing, empty all those damn packing peanuts out of the box, put the piece back in, pour the peanuts back in, tape the box shut, and then find someone with a smartphone to video me doing it all over again. LOL! Honestly, just thinking about all that work makes me tired. Need I remind you I'm in my 60's. But I will keep you in mind the next time I get a ginormous box of art.

Hey buddy! Funny you should mention Christmas. Can't help but think of those kids who, after opening their giant gifts, all they want to do is play with the box.
I hope that when the big reveal finally happens, people won't be saying, "Nah, the box was more exciting!" LOL

Recycle that bad boy. It'll make 20-regular sized shipping boxes for future generations ;)
Can't wait to see what you got!

Ha! That was almost the title for the pic. When I was trying to come up with a title for this photo, the two I was going back and forth between was WTF and The Porch Monster.

Ernest Hemingway once wrote, "The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." I agree with the second part.

There's no art, when all we see is a view to a box.

Maybe instead of the auction art you won, Heritage sent you the actual auctioneer! Better poke some air holes in there just in case.

Oh shoot! Maybe they sent me Oli. Olivier is my buddy in Belgium, who also happens to head HA's European division. I was talking to Jim H and he told me that Oli had actually mentioned me to him. I, in turn, told him that we were buddies and Oli was a great guy who wanted to come to the US. I asked Jim if he had any positions open at the Dallas office, but maybe he thought this would be an easier way to get him into the country. Now THAT would make a great box opening video! LOL! Hmm, brings to mind that scene in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation where they wrapped the cat in a box. Oli, are you in there?????

I believe we will find that Eric finally cracked under his Art Adams addiction and got Art kidnapped so he could get all the Art he ever wanted, straight from the source, but the person who did the deed got confused and squeezed Art into this box. Hes likely dead in that airless environment. On a positive note, Eric, your collection has gone up in value.

Ha! Wasn't there a De Niro movie called The Fan? And I mention that only because there will probably never be another chance for me to compare myself to Robert De Niro. LOL!

There was a De Niro film called The Fan. He chewed up the scenery in it, acting crazier than even Jack Nicolson at his most set chewingly awful. Hmmm..as long as its early De Niro you want to be compared to, thats allowed. Can't wait to see if it is indeed 'Art' in this. Squeezed up a bit, he should have fitted. He does not look that big in photos I have seen of him.
