DescriptionIt's late Friday night and I'm feeling stressed out. So, I decided to pick a random page of art to post as a form of stress release. Let's see what we got.Ah, yes. The Evolutionary War. This was a major crossover event that ran through all of Marvel's 1988 summer annuals. It was the first time that Marvel's annuals would have a unifying theme, and I for one was hooked. DC would follow suit with crossovers through its own annuals starting in 1991 with the excellent Armageddon 2001, and by 1993 I was wishing that the Big Two would go back to standalone annuals. But in 1988? Eleven year-old me couldn't get enough of the High Evolutionary and his shenanigans. I still remember those annuals fondly, and I have the omnibus edition sitting on my bookshelf at home. Here we have Apocalypse teleporting into the High Evolutionary's HQ to discuss their philosophical differences regarding how to mess with evolution. When you get right down to it, they're both jerks. X-Men aren't innocent
As teenagers Chucked up in the head
Magneto already gave up
And Terry lines are inked Milgrom
Will there be Apocalypse to come along and take over for us?
Evolutionary's better now we're done...

They need to start publishing new material in Mad magazine again so you can get a job there writing song parodies.

A cool page from a very nostalgic event. I used to love those annual crossovers!

It's really neat just for the early Apocalypse appearance! I hope whatever is causing you stress works itself out soon!

Action is great, but there is something about two of Marvel's big baddies just discussing their differences. Great page and nice panel layout.

My busy season is ramping up, too, Michael; sincere wishes for a healthy cool-down period. Fantastic way to burn some of it off, though, and much healthier than some options... posting art! :)
I, too, remember this event! That summer I was on a car trip with my family (talk about stress, right?) and picked up the Uncanny X-Men chapter in Marietta, Georgia. They're forever linked to me...
Sweet page, and I'm always partial to ones where the High Evolutionary is the smallest thing on the page. It just cracks me up - he just looks so tiiiiinnnyyyyyy...! But he's the High Evolutionary! :) Very cool piece of "event history", Michael! Congrats, thanks for sharing, and I hope things were+are able to settle down a bit for you...

I remember this well. I didn't read all the Evolutionary Way crossover issues, but I had to buy them all. I thought I would read them all, I didn't but scanned all for the good art. This is a really good page - good choice - my kind of stress relief! Congrats!!!
