Description
Here is the first piece I am sharing from a larger collection I recently acquired. A fun, first appearance of the Angel and Ape characters that would later go on to have their own short series. I love Oksner's art, especially when he was drawing girls. Although I have a really groovy panel page from this series already, a first appearance cover is a welcomed addition. My scan makes the cover look a lot whiter than it is in person.

It is a fun image of Sam, the Ape, drawing a comic strip at a drafting board.

Absolutely gorgeous Good Girl Art by Oksner, a severely underrated master of the female form. Not only is the GGA great, but as a strip art fan/collector, the image of the ape using Angel as a live model for his newspaper strip is just fabulous! Oh, I suppose that it's the birth cover of Angel & the Ape is kind of special, too.

Funny, sexy, and meta (the self-referential inclusion of the comic strip) all in one beautiful piece--love it!

This is a spectacular find!  When I was a kid I only knew Oksner as Giffen's inker on Ambush Bug.  In recent years I've come to appreciate his 1960s DC humor work, and you have the crown jewel of that work right here!

Wowza!!!  Oksner has a special place in my heart due to his inking of  many of my first Superman stories but it was discovering his good girl humor art that made me an even bigger fan.  This is a knock-out example.  Just gorgeous.  Thanks so much for sharing.

Even though his style evolved over the decades, Oksner was so gifted in drawing girls.  One of the best pieces of Oksner art to be had.

I am delighted to see that Angel and the Ape (that I always thought to be an overlooked gem in the buoyant late 60's creative cauldron at DC) has so many fans here on CAF! This was a great series, outrageously funny and so well illustrated by Bob Oksner. And wait until Wally Wood joined in to turn Angel O'Day from good girl to outstanding girl!... A fantastic cover, of course!
