Description
A rare "quiet" page from Steven! No battles, boobs or blood just the tragic story of Hope beginning to play out. I absolutely love Steven's inks here, from how he tackled the pouring rain to the supurb lighting in the bottom panel. And the guy in the first panel... definitely how I was feeling after Saturday night at Heroes Con.

Love this page! From Steven's incredible rain effects to the background hatching in the bottom panel, so much of his talent is on display here! It has great flow and pacing as well.  Nice pick up!

Thanks bud! You're right on all accounts, it's also one of his more traditional panel layouts in this series and he still nails it. Appreciate the kind words as always!

The atmosphere is just amazing and does bring us into their world.  The 3rd panel is like the blur you see from looking out a window during heavy rain.  With no large distractions, we can see that this was Hughes taking a step forward artistically.

Absolutely! That third panel is the one that really sucked me in. It's almost supernatural, like seeing something from another realm reaching towards the reader.

You know, that's a connection I should have made but didn't see it. He was a student of the masters after all. Thanks for making the link!

Well I thought I would come and see what all of the hype is about and this is a great page. Also very memorable from the storyline. Being older and seeing the raw art really does showcase Hughes can draw horror. Even tho he will always be more known for exploitation. This is a great page and congrats from all of us cyber fiens for cracking the top 10. 3100

Wow! Beautiful page by Steven Hughes! Love the inks! The strong use of thick, rich blacks and the delicate crosshatching give the page a stunning look! Great pick-up!

The amount of work that Hughes put into this one page is simply divine. The rain alone...My goodness. This is a gem.

Thank you for stopping by! It's really wild to look at these early Reckoning pieces and see how much painstaking ink work Steven put into nearly every page. He was really all in on the book!
