DescriptionThe idea for this bizarre series of illustrations comes from the amazing Donald Duck homage Alberto drew for me to celebrate the 85th birthday of the character, D-Zilla, where our Donald got someway blended with Godzilla, a fictional monster, or kaiju, originating from a series of Japanese films. So here's the fourth piece of a series where Alberto will put in the blender Donald Duck and fictional characters from Japan, D-Lupin. The reference character here is Lupin the third, created by Monkey Punch, protagonist of a manga series as well as an anime that counts hundreds of episodes. It follows the endeavors of master thief Lupin III, the grandson of the fictional gentleman thief, Arsène Lupin, considered the world's greatest thief, known for announcing his intentions to steal valuable objects by sending a calling card to their owners. His right-hand man and best friend is Daisuke Jigen, an expert marksman who can accurately shoot a target in 0.3 seconds. Although Lupin and Jigen frequently work as a two-man team, they are often joined by Goemon Ishikawa XIII, a master swordsman whose sword can cut anything, and Fujiko Mine, a femme fatale and Lupin's love interest. Although Fujiko usually works together with the others, she occasionally exploits Lupin's interest in her to steal the treasure for herself. Lupin and his gang are constantly chased by Inspector Koichi Zenigata of Interpol, who has made it his life's work to arrest them, pursuing Lupin across the globe. Alberto's stunning piece shows Donald as Lupin as well as duck versions of Jigen and Goemon, plus the classic (and amazing) FIAT 500, one of the classic cars that the master thief drives in the anime series and movies. I find the overall composition and colors absolutely gorgeous. Huge thanks to Alberto! Paper size: 25.8 x 36 cm Social/Sharing |

I really loved this series as a kid, the characters were all great and the stories fun and exciting at the same time. Fantastic rendition by Alberto!
