Description

A companion page to my previously posted one. Not as emotionally impactful, but still a gem to admire. If you can’t get a page with The Pectre on it, then getting his alter ego is the next best thing. My wife pointed out to me how I am drawn to pages that have a chiaroscuro quality. Aparo really shows off his talent for layout, storytelling and technique on this page. I love these older pages where everything is on the page. They don’t depend on an inker filling in solids or a colorist for backgrounds.

Totally agree with everyone else who said that this is prime Jim Aparo artwork; his best (tying with the stories he did on early Brave and the Bold, and the Archie Goodwin-edited Detective). I had my eye on these two Spectre pages when they came up but I am superglad they ended up with a true fan of a classic run. Congrats.
