DescriptionThe idea for this bizarre series of illustrations comes from the amazing Donald Duck homage Alberto drew for me to celebrate the 85th birthday of the character, D-Zilla, where our Donald got somewhat blended with Godzilla, a fictional monster, or kaiju, originating from a series of Japanese films. So here's the sixth piece of a series where Alberto will put in the blender Donald Duck and fictional characters from Japan, D-Ro-Boy. The reference here is Astro Boy, a fictional character created by Osamu Tezuka and the protagonist of a science fiction series set in a futuristic world where robots co-exist with human people. He is a powerful android created by the head of the Ministry of Science, Doctor Tenma, to replace his son Tobio, who was killed in a car accident. Astro fights crime, evil, and injustice using his powers, such as 100K horsepower strength, jet flight, high-intensity lights in his eyes, adjustable hearing, instant language translation, a retractable machine gun in his hips, a high IQ capable of determining if a person is good or evil, etc. Most of his enemies are robot-hating humans, robots gone berserk, or alien invaders. Alberto's piece shows a magnificent Donald/Atom launching laser beams from his hand, dynamic and with colors that pop. Huge thanks to Alberto! Paper size: 25.8 x 36 cm Social/Sharing |
